With the recent launch of the IKONOS-2 satellite, 1m panchromatic data is now available. This imagery has great potential for many applications, including the extraction of building outlines and heights for telecommunications, planning, and other industries. The picture to the left shows an example of the type of building information which can be extracted from IKONOS data over central London: the outline vectors are displayed on a coloured scale according to their height attribute (see scale). The 3-D products shown below were created from the same data using visualisation software.
