The Quickbird satellite was successfully launched on the
Boeing Delta II launch vehicle on October 18, 2001.
The Quickbird satellite orbits the Earth every 93.5 minutes
at an altitude of approximately 450 kilometers. Quickbird
is the highest resolution commercial satellite imagery available.
The QuickBird satellite collects both multi-spectral and
panchromatic imagery concurrently, and 70cm Pan-sharpened
composite products in natural or infrared colours are offered.
Both strip mode and area mode imaging are supported. Strips
up to 10 scenes in length (165 km) can be collected in a single
pass. Areas up to 2x2 scenes can be collected in a single
pass.
(All pixels are resampled to 0.60m or 0.70m before delivery)
A range of acceptable viewing angles can be specified by the
customer before image acquisition.
Quickbird data is provided on CD-ROM in GeoTIF Format as either
8-bit or 16-bit per waveband.
