Basins – existing NPA data (available now)

Rationale
ANP, Brazil’s National Petroleum Agency, have recently
announced blocks available for the 9th offshore licensing
round. These include 153 offshore blocks of high potential
covering an area of 42,000km2, from the Santos, Campos and
Espírito Santo basins and the Pará-Maranhão,
Pernambuco-Paraíba Basins (fig1, inset). Further data
can be obtained from the ANP web-site (http://www.brasil-rounds.gov.br/english/index.asp).
NPA have comprehensive SAR coverage of all 9th round blocks
(bar the deep-water Para-Maranhao basin). In addition, we
are supplementing the data by adding a further two layers
of compliant SAR data which will result in a quadruple seep
study of the four principal basins (fig 2):
- Santos
- Campos
- Espirito Santo and
- Pernambuco-Paraiba (inset)
Highlights of 9th Round
Brazil Study (existing study)
- 38 SAR scenes already interpreted.
- 332 slicks mapped.
- 44 high confidence seepage slicks, 77 moderate confidence
seepage slicks, and 105 lower confidence seepage slicks
mapped, indicating presence of oil petroleum systems in
certain basins.
- Slick density and slick repeat data.
- Fully digital data available in modular USID format for
large or small areas.
