To coincide with the Gulf of Aden and Red Sea
licensing block bid round (fig 2), NPA are releasing their
offshore SAR seep study, now in fully GIS compatible format.
The NPA data has near to 100% dual coverage over almost all
of the Gulf of Aden (fig 1) with additional compliant data
now being acquired. A number of potentially significant seepage
slicks have been identified in the area which include the
released blocks.

Highlights
of NPA's offshore Yemen study:
- Coverage of the Offshore Red Sea, Mukalla, Shabwah, Sharmah
and Somali basins with 95 scenes already interpreted over
the 4th international bid round.
- 742 slicks mapped.
- 75 higher confidence seepage slicks and 255 lower confidence
rank 4 slicks indicating presence of oil petroleum systems
in certain basins.
- Slick density and slick repeat data.
- Fully digital data available in modular USID format for
large or small areas.
- 43 further ERS scenes identified as compliant to complete
single coverage.
- Expert methods of weather screening for identification
of ERS scenes for further multiple coverage.
